Is a car fan supposed to turn on right when you turn the car on?
The fan should operate on two occasions - when the engine reaches a certain temperature and anytime the A/C is turned on (regardless of engine temperature).Make sure your ac button isnt on and that the defrost is off. The only time i have seen fans work when the car is cold is if someone had problems with the fan(s) and wired them to always run with key on.
BMW Radiator Fan / Clutch Removal : DIY [ How To ] /// 330i (E46)
How to remove Radiator Fan-Clutch Unit and Fan Shroud on a BMW 330i (E46) Tools used: 1. #1703 BMW Fan Clutch Tool 2. 32mm "Thin" wrench 3. Sloted/Flat screw driver 4. Padded Floor mats (to protect Fan blades in case you accidentally drop it, while unscrewing it.) NOTE: You may need to loosen/remove the Upper Radiator Hose (Make Sure the engine is Cool) to reach the water pump pulley bolts. And, if you did remove the Hose... REMEMBER to Reattach it once you are done. WARNING : BE CAREFUL when working near the Radiator Fan, DO NOT damage Fan Blades! DO NOT DROP the Fan once it is completely loosen from the Water Pump. You have been Warned. Also, to make working on the Fan, I removed the Airbox, to give myself some more room to work within. This is not necessarily required, but it worked for me.
